Checking out the PMC...

PMC Day

Today was the Pan Mass Challenge. I rode over to check it out. I headed out and hooked up with it right near the Bellingham/Mendon border. Then I tagged along until the Franklin water stop, where friend/neighbor/fellow-rider Ed was volunteering.

Celebrity Run In

While I was wandering around looking for Ed I saw somebody else I recognized. I listen to the Hillman Morning Show on WAAF and I know that "LB" does the PMC. I saw this guy that looked a lot like LB, so I followed him to his bike and saw by the name on the PMC reg tag that it was indeed LB. I said hi and stuff, and he areed to pose for a quick picture with me :-)

Where's Ed

I wandered around some more looking for Ed before I gave up. I saw his car, but no Ed. There were a few hundred people here and I guessed I just wouldn't be able to find him in the crowd.

Lots, and lots of riders...

So I headed out to ride some more before turning back home. Then, right in front of me I see Ed directing traffic.

He was very busy and there were no opportunities to chat. I didn't want to be a distraction so after a while I headed out.

The weather was perfect for riding this morning and I'm glad I got to see the PMC up close. Maybe next year I'll register and do the entire thing.

Catherine's Kids PMC Ride

Catherine had her Kids PMC Ride yesterday. She did the "Tikes and Trikes" version. The older kids, 7-14, get to ride a choice of a 2.5 mile, 5 mile or 7 mile course. However, Catherine rode for 1:15 straight, and then some. So she may have actually ridden for a greater distance than a majority of the "route" riders.

Fund Raising

Through the help of friends and family, Catherine raised $330 that will go for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The total amount raised for the Franklin ride was over $20,000!

Kids PMC Ride: Franklin, MA

Kids PMC Ride

This year I was on the fence about doing the PMC myself. It was a big commitment that I didn't think I was ready to take on this year. However, this will be the second year that my daughter, Catherine, will be doing the Kids PMC Ride here in Franklin, MA on June 1st.

Catherine @ Last Years Ride

It's a little short ride for children to raise money for the Jimmy Fund. Catherine is very excited about it. She feels like a "big kid" because last year she did the short little obstacle course which is now for "babies" in her almost first grade eyes. :-)

The money goes to fund children's cancer research. If you'd like to learn more check out the link: kids.pmc.org

PMC 2008 Registration

I just received this in am email:

Another record falls! In the first 24 hours of alumni registration 1,332 alumni – 52% more than a year ago - registered! The implications for future registrants are as follows:

  • Provincetown will, likely, sell out in the first week of ‘Rookie’ registration
  • The 3pm ‘party’ ferry, with 200 spots remaining, will sell out on the first day (if not before) of Open Registration
  • The 4pm Fast Ferry is sold out
  • The 12 noon Fast Ferry has 27 spots remaining

I guess I'd better make up my mind fast if I am going to do the PMC this year...
